Our guides have an average of twenty years experience and are all Oregon Coast natives. They know the ins and outs, nooks and crannies of each run on the Oregon Coast. Prior to each trip, they will sit down with you to plan your epic day on the water. From walking a tiny stream and sight casting Cutthroats to pounding tidewater for giant Chinook, we can design your perfect day.

Jesse Sampson - Founder and operator of Small Stream Outfitters, Jesse has been fly fishing since age 4. He began guiding Northwest waters while still in high school and continued to guide through his college career at Spokane's Gonzaga Univeristy. Graduating with degrees in fine art, business and a minor in "flyfishing", he took his local knowledge North to Alaska. Jesse guided and managed remote fishing lodges in Western Alaska from 1997 until 2002. Missing his childhood waters, he returned to Oregon and founded Small Stream Outfitters.

Sampson's passion and excitement for fishing is contagious. He enjoys nothing more than helping a guest to the fish of their lifetime. His high energy, entertaining stories of the wild and appreciation of Oregon's beautiful places will keep you smiling all day. He is an expert casting instructor, Coast Guard Certifed Vessel Operator, Registered & Certified Oregon Guide and trained in First Aid & CPR.

Sean Tate - The quinessiental "fishing nut", Sean discovered fly fishing in the 90's and was swallowed by the fishing vortex. A natural in the truest sense of the word, Sean's loves to share his knowledge. Don't be fooled by Sean's fun-loving, easy going style, he has an uncanny ability to locate and catch those stubborn fish when no one else can. He is deliberate, determined and a master of matching the hatch. Besides guiding Sean is also an expert fly tyer and custom rod builder. Jay Sampson- Fishing since childhood in rural New England, Jay moved to Oregon in 1970 and immediately discovered the joy of fly fishing for Steelhead. Jay hasn't slowed down since, his 50 years of fly fishing experience has taken him north to the arctic circle and south to the equator, all in search of fish that will take a fly. Jay retired from his career as a teacher in 2001 and has been guiding in Alaska and Oregon ever since. Jay's calm demeanor and expert instruction will help you get that "big one" to the net. Jay is also a Aquatic and Angler Education Instructor for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
