At Small Stream Outfitters we believe that a day of fishing isn't just about catching fish, but the total experience. From the scenery and wildlife viewed, to the friendships formed these experiences turn a day of fishing into a day that will last in your memories.

Our guides have an average of twenty years experience and are all Oregon Coast natives. They know the ins and outs, nooks and crannies of each run on the Oregon Coast. Prior to each trip, they will talk with you to plan your epic day on the water. From walking a tiny stream and sight casting cutthroats to working tidewater for giant Chinook, we can design your perfect day.

Founder and operator of Small Stream Outfitters, Jesse has been fly fishing since age four. He began guiding Oregon rivers while still in high school and continued to guide through college at Spokane's Gonzaga Univeristy. Graduating with degrees in fine art and business, plus a minor in "flyfishing", he took his local knowledge North to Alaska. Jesse guided at and managed remote fishing lodges in Western Alaska from 1997 until 2002. Missing his childhood streams, he returned to Oregon and founded Small Stream Outfitters in 2003.

Jesse's passion and excitement for fishing is contagious. He enjoys nothing more than helping a guest to the fish of a lifetime. His high energy, entertaining stories of the wild and appreciation of Oregon's beautiful places will keep you smiling all day. He is an expert casting instructor, registered & certified Oregon guide and trained in first aid & CPR.

Chris joined the Small Stream Outfitters team in 2015 and we're happy to have him aboard. Chris is a full time guide who loves the Spey rod. He works the Willamette Valley streams and the Coast for salmon, trout and steelhead. He also teaches our fly casting clinics and lessons.

Chris' friendly, laid back demeanor, vast knowledge of fisheries and killer shore lunches keeps the anglers coming back for more! He is an expert spey and single handed casting instructor, registered & certified Oregon guide and trained in first aid & CPR.

Fishing since childhood in rural New England, Jay moved to Oregon in 1970 and immediately discovered the joy of fly fishing for Steelhead. Jay hasn't slowed down since, his 50 years of fly fishing experience has taken him north to the arctic circle and south to the equator, all in search of fish that will take a fly. Jay retired from his career as a teacher in 2001 and has been guiding in Alaska and Oregon ever since. Jay's calm demeanor and expert instruction will help you get that "big one" to the net. Jay is also an Aquatic and Angler Education Instructor for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The quintessential "fishing nut", Sean discovered fly fishing in the 90's and was swallowed by the fishing vortex. Over the last 20 years Sean has honed his fly tying and rod building skills and now produces split cane bamboo fly rods from scratch. These rods are not only works of art, but exceptionally casting and performing fly rods as well. Check out Sean's custom built fly rods and flies on this site!
